Maruti cars are known for their reliability, fuel efficiency, affordable maintenance, and low running costs, making them perfect for families and daily usage. Whether you want to navigate busy city streets in a compact Alto, impress your coworkers in the stylish All-New Dzire or go on a family road trip in an Ertiga, there’s a right car for everybody.

No matter how well-built your Maruti car is, it can still face unexpected problems like dents, a cracked windscreen or water damage. Whether you have hit a bumper or been involved in a traffic collision, TATA AIG’s Maruti Suzuki Car Insurance covers repair and replacement at an affordable cost.

Protect your vehicle with a trusted brand with over 25 years1 of experience and access to a pan-India network of Maruti authorised garages.

Why Do You Need Insurance for Your Maruti Suzuki Car?

It's Mandatory for All Maruti Car Owners

Covers Third-Party Liabilities

The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 requires every Maruti car owner to get third-party car insurance for public road use. If the traffic authorities catch you without valid insurance, they can fine you ₹2000 to ₹4000, jail you for up to 3 months or both. Get third-party Maruti insurance to avoid such penalties.   Driving your Maruti car without third-party insurance exposes you to significant financial liability. If you cause injuries, property damage or death to someone else with your car, you have to pay them compensation plus fines for driving uninsured. Without third-party cover, these expenses come out of your pocket.

Keeps Car Ownership Affordable

Access Authorised Maruti Service Centres in Our Network

Maruti Suzuki cars have one of the lowest ownership costs due to their high mileage, affordable spare parts and large service network. A car insurance policy keeps your ownership costs predictable by covering accidental repairs. If you rely on your Maruti car for daily commutes, insurance gives you immediate access to nearby cashless garages for hassle-free repairs.  By choosing TATA AIG as your insurance provider, you get access to our extensive network of 6300+ garages across India. With Maruti’s authorised service centres included in our garage network, you can access quick cashless repairs and roadside assistance in any major city.

Covers Fire, Natural & Man-Made Disasters

Covers Theft & Total Loss

Unexpected events such as fire, floods, heavy rainfall, cyclones, landslides, riots, strikes and vandalism can lead to hefty recovery and repair bills. Securing a car insurance plan with add-ons like Roadside Assistance and Engine Secure provides enhanced protection against disasters by covering repairs, spare parts, towing and special expenses.  Whether you use your Maruti for daily commutes or family trips, our Maruti car insurance plan is non-negotiable for theft and total losses. If you own popular models like Maruti Swift or WagonR, getting this plan is doubly important to cover their increased theft risks. The policy covers the cost of replacement up to the car’s Insured Declared Value (IDV) or on-road price if you have the Return to Invoice add-on.

Since dealer insurance isn’t mandatory, it’s better to pick your Maruti insurance online. Buying online from us is cheaper as it cuts out the middleman and lets you get attractive discounts up to 95%.  Avoid filing claims for small repair bills. Instead, compare the repair cost against the value of NCB you are saving. You can also transfer NCB benefits to a new car or when changing insurers.   A voluntary deductible reduces your premiums but requires you to pay a part of the claim out of your pocket. Choose this option if you have emergency savings and can comfortably pay the extra deductible.   Installing ARAI-approved anti-theft devices lowers your premium through a discount applicable over the policy period. Install the device if it makes financial sense by comparing the cost against premium savings, or if you need additional security.  Choose only the add-ons that suit your needs and driving habits. While some add-ons provide you with essential coverage, skip those that offer you little value or do not fit your specific needs.

Maruti Suzuki Car Insurance Add-On Covers Worth Buying

Depreciation Reimbursement

This add-on covers any deduction due to depreciation on parts replaced during a claim. Because Maruti bumpers and fenders are plastic and depreciate quickly, frequent low-speed bumps can lower your claim payout. The add-on is available for cars up to 10 years10 old.

Engine Secure

It covers damage to internal engine, gearbox and transmission parts. It is useful for models with low ground clearance like the Alto K10, S-Presso, and WagonR. It’s also highly recommended for driving in areas prone to flooding and heavy rainfall.

Consumables Cover

This Maruti car insurance add-on covers small but necessary materials used up during repairs, such as engine oil, brake oil, coolant, nuts, bolts, grease, and AC gas. It pairs well with the zero depreciation add-on for premium Maruti cars.

Roadside Assistance

This provides emergency assistance with services like towing, jump-starts, flat tyre assistance, and fuel delivery. It is ideal for family road trips, long drives, night driving and for driving in remote areas of India in an Ertiga, XL6, or Eeco. Available for cars up to 15 years11 old.

Return to Invoice

It covers the financial gap between your car's Insured Declared Value (IDV) and its on-road purchase price for theft and total loss claims. It is best suited for newer, high-value Marutis, such as the Brezza, Fronx, and Grand Vitara.

NCB Protection

This protects your accumulated No Claim Bonus against a single claim filed during the policy year. It is useful for daily city commuters who have built a high NCB over the years and is available for up to 10-year-old12 Maruti cars.

Key Protection

This add-on covers the replacement of car keys and repairs for damaged locks. It is suitable for newer, keyless Maruti variants with high key replacement costs due to limited availability.

Tyre Protection

This covers the repair or replacement costs of damaged tyres and tubes. It is a good choice if you frequently drive over potholes and poorly maintained roads, in bad weather conditions, or have expensive alloy wheels on your Maruti car.

Daily Allowance Plus

This Maruti insurance add-on provides a fixed daily cash benefit or an alternative courtesy car when your Maruti sits in a garage for repairs. It is invaluable if you need to commute daily, require a private vehicle, or face high taxi fares.

Frequently Asked Questions

General

1. How much does a Maruti Suzuki car insurance policy cost?

iconDown

The premium cost depends on the type of policy, model, variant, and other factors. The premium rates of third-party plans are fixed between ₹2094 and ₹7897 based on engine/battery capacity. If you own an electric Maruti Suzuki car, you could get third-party insurance for it at an even lower starting price of ₹1780.

For standalone own damage and comprehensive plans, the premium depends on the car’s Insured Declared Value, age and condition, policy period, add-ons, No Claim Bonus, etc.

2. Where can I download my Maruti Suzuki car policy documents?

iconDown

You can download your policy documents from your insurer’s website or mobile app. For TATA AIG plans, click on ‘My Policy’ at the top of this page, sign in using your registered mobile number and go to the ‘Policy Download’ section to get an online copy. On the mobile app, tap on “My Policy” and tap on the download option.

You can also download policy documents from the government’s Parivahan Sewa or Vahan portal.

3. Does car insurance policy cover any Maruti iCNG models

iconDown

Yes, TATA AIG’s car insurance plans cover CNG models of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Celerio, Fronx, WagonR, Eeco and other popular models. We also cover aftermarket CNG/LPG kits fitted to Maruti vehicles if you apply for an endorsement.

4. If I buy my policy online instead of from my Maruti dealer, will the Arena/NEXA workshop still do a cashless repair?

iconDown

Arena and NEXA workshops are dedicated branded workshops owned by Maruti Suzuki India. Whether your insurance policy covers these garages depends entirely on your chosen insurer. TATA AIG covers most Arena/NEXA workshops across India. You can always check if your closest Arena/NEXA workshop is included in our cashless garage network using our garage locator page. If not, you can always file a reimbursement claim.

5. Is "Maruti Suzuki Insurance" the same as buying directly from an insurance company?

iconDown

Maruti Suzuki Insurance is an insurance brokerage service provided by Maruti Suzuki India rather than a type of car insurance policy. As a car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki is partnered with insurance providers, which lets it offer insurance plans at car dealerships. Note that dealer insurance is not mandatory and is often costlier and less flexible.

6. My car is a NEXA model (Baleno, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Jimny, Invicto) — can it be repaired at an Arena workshop under a cashless claim?

iconDown

Yes, Maruti Suzuki’s Arena workshops are expansive workshops with multiple service bays and advanced equipment. They are capable of servicing most types of Maruti Suzuki cars, including NEXA and Arena models. You can view all Maruti authorised garages near your area using our Garage Locator tool.

7. What does the warranty cover versus what insurance covers?

iconDown

Maruti Suzuki’s warranty covers manufacturing defects under regular use and service for a limited period. It provides service at authorised service centres and covers high-value parts, such as the engine, compressor, self-assembly, etc.

A car insurance plan is a contract that covers repairs and replacement against a wide variety of risks, including accidents, theft, fire, natural disasters, manmade disasters, etc., which are not covered under a standard warranty.

8. Will an accident repair claim affect my Maruti extended warranty?

iconDown

While the warranty and car insurance policy are separate products, the location of repair can affect the warranty. To keep coverage intact, get accident repairs done at an authorised Maruti workshop using genuine parts, and get scheduled servicing as mentioned in the Owner's Manual. Also, make sure to check your warranty certificate to know the exact conditions that apply to you.

Wherever possible, pick a garage that is both on TATA AIG’s cashless network and a Maruti authorised workshop — that satisfies both sides at once, and our network includes most Maruti dealerships. Retain the repair invoice and the stamped service record.

9. I bought the e Vitara under the BaaS plan — how is IDV calculated when I don't own the battery outright, and who insures the pack?

iconDown

The BaaS (battery as a service) plan is a financing option where the battery cost is excluded from the purchase price and financed per kilometre of usage. To calculate the IDV of your e Vitara under the BaaS plan, you need to deduct its battery pack cost from the selling price and apply the depreciation rate.

TATA AIG’s Electric Car Insurance provides full coverage for EV battery repair and replacement with EV-specific add-ons like Electric Surge Secure.

10. Can I insure my Dzire Tour S, Eeco or WagonR Tour under a private car policy?

iconDown

Yes, TATA AIG’s car insurance plan covers all types of Maruti Suzuki models, including Dzire Tour S, Eeco and WagonR Tour. To insure a commercial model under a private car insurance plan, you need to register it as a ‘private-use vehicle’ at the RTO during first-time registration.

Our private car policy provides financial coverage against third-party liabilities and damage/loss from a wide variety of insured events, including accidents, fire and natural disasters.

11. My Maruti 800 / Zen / Alto 800 is discontinued — can I still get comprehensive cover, and how is IDV fixed?

iconDown

Yes, TATA AIG’s Comprehensive Car Insurance is available for all Maruti Suzuki models, including discontinued cars like Alto 800, Zen and Maruti 800. The Insured Declared Value16 for cars above 5 years old and obsolete models is based on a predetermined agreement between the insured person and us.
